Thank you Doreen!

A ‘greyt’ big thank you to our friend Doreen. Not only has Doreen been fostering the gorgeous Sky for us, but she recently held a tombola and raised over £60 for G.R.A.C.E. We are so, so grateful to you Doreen!

Spotlight on Sky

Could you be gorgeous Sky’s forever family? Sky came to us a little while ago as sadly her owner passed away. She is currently being fostered by one of our lovely volunteers, but really needs a permanent home to call her own. Sky is a rough coated lurcher and is seven years young. She is still an active girl and has great recall.

Sky is a lovely gentle girl,  loves her home comforts and cuddles. She is very clean in the house, walks well on the lead and has good recall. Sky is good with children, but she isn’t cat friendly. Although Sky has lived with other dogs, we think she would be better off as an only dog as she can be a bit of a bossy madam at times!

Thank you Aunty Xena!

You might recall the story of the lovely lady called Xema who knitted dozens of hens to raise money for Lewis’ veterinary bill recently. Xena and her friends raised a staggering £500. This has been am amazing help to a small rescue charity like G.R.A.C.E.

So, it was fantastic when Lewis was able to thank his Aunty Xena in person recently!

Dogs, get involved!

Dogs, get involved! Friday 22nd June is national ‘Bring Your Dog To Work Day’.

Get your ‘Humum’ or Dad to ask their boss if you can pop into their work for the day. Or maybe your Mum or Dad is the boss, so no excuses. Save the date and get lots of lovely worky-type people to make a donation to GRACE.

P.S. No clocking off early or snoozing on the job!

Hamper raffle tickets still available

Thank you to another amazing G.R.A.C.E supporter, Laura Burlinson, owner of ‘The Paddock’ organically sourced produce. Laura is running a raffle to win this gorgeous hamper, which includes Northumberland tea, cheese, organic chocolate, handmade jams, chutneys, local honey, shortbread, pressed juice and free range eggs!

The hamper is worth £40 and raffle tickets are £2 each. All proceeds will go to G.R.A.C.E. If you would like a raffle ticket, please comment on the post via our Facebook page, or send Laura an email to: laura@thepaddock.org.uk  The raffle will be drawn in time for Easter!

Rescue greyhounds are very close to Laura’s heart after losing her beloved Derwent Dog, who she described as her best friend and loyal companion for 13 years. Laura has recently taken G.R.A.C.E girl Leona into her home, who has certainly landed on her paws.

Happy ‘gotcha day’ Ted

Can you believe that it’s a whole year that this handsome G.R.A.C.E boy was officially adopted by his fantastic family? Happy first ‘gotcha day’ Ted! He is enjoying a life of treats, cuddles, walks and being loved totally loved.

He has also built up quite a collection of footballs.

Xena’s roosters raise revenue!

We are blown away by how kind some people are. Just look at these fab roosters (and this isn’t all of them!) that Xena made.

Xena has spent hours knitting these beauties and sold them to raise money for Lewis (the beautiful greyhound boy who was run over recently).

From all at G.R.A.C.E, and especially from Lewis, a huge thank you Xena – you are a wonderful person.

Lewis is receiving ongoing veterinary treatment. He had another dressing change yesterday, under anaesthetic, but the wound is slowly beginning to heal. Thank you to all who have sent love, words of support and donations to help this very special boy.

Are you about to book your next holiday? Or do you shop online?

Curtis is wondering if you are about to book your next holiday? Or will you be sorting out your car insurance? Or whether you shop online with retailers such as Amazon, Argos, John Lewis, Comet, iTunes, eBay, Tesco, Sainsbury’s or HMV? Then you will be able to raise money for Greyhound Rescue and Co-ordinated Emergencies while you shop via www.easyfundraising.org.uk – and it won’t cost you a penny more! It’s really simple to do:

  1. Visit https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/ and sign up.
  2. Find our page in the ‘search for a cause’ box: GRACE (Greyhound Rescue and Co-ordinated Emergencies).
  3. Use the links on the easyfundraising site to take you to the retailer of your choice whenever you shop online. [NB: there are thousands of well known retailers to choose from]. Then when you buy something, a percentage of what you spend comes directly to G.R.A.C.E at no extra cost to you.

It really is that easy. And it will be a huge help to us! For example, if you spend £100 with M&S online or Amazon, then it raises £2.50 for us. There’s over 2,000 retailers on their site, and some of the donations can be as much as 15% of your purchase. Thank you.

Adoption news – congratulations to Tiffany!

We are thrilled to announce that beautiful Tiffany has now been officially adopted!

So, a huge congratulations to Tiffany and her lovely new family.

Here is Tiffany enjoying some fresh air and boating fun with her G.R.A.C.E foster family before her adoption. They were instrumental in getting Tiffany ready for her new home, by showing her love, affection and introducing her to new experiences to help boost her confidence.

Just look at Joy now!

You might have seen our January news post about the progress of Hansel and Joy, the two emaciated hounds we rescued in December. When rescued, Joy weighed a mere 15 kilos. The vets wanted to put her to sleep she was so thin and poorly. Well just look at her now! Our hearts are bursting to see how brilliantly she is doing.
