A sad goodbye to Blake

We were very sad to hear that Lil, Joe and Frankie had to say goodbye to our wonderful GRACE boy Blake recently.
He was such a special and gentle boy. He will be forever in our hearts. Safe journey over the rainbow bridge Blake.

Peterlee Show

Thank you to everyone who came to volunteer at, or support, our stall and tombola at Peterlee Show this weekend. Nadia even scooped a prize in the fun dog show!

Greetings from Jersey!

Quite a few of our G.R.A.C.E dogs have found wonderful loving homes in Jersey, with the help of Gail Hickmott and Greyhound Rescue Jersey.

Last week Becky, who has fostered many of our dogs who have been rehomed to Jersey, had the opportunity to go there. As well as spending the week dog sitting, she met up with lots of her ex-fosters.

She had a fabulous time and loved spending time with all of the greys: Billy, Cole, Duke, Penny, Robyn, Sylvester and Mac.

Limited edition coats for sale

We had a photo shoot with some of our hounds that have found their forever homes. They were modelling coats that we are selling to raise funds for G.R.A.C.E and don’t they all look stunning? The supermodels of the dog world!

We have sizes: 22” 28” 30” & 32” in green, black or red. [NB: These are limited edition coats, good quality and are small fitting so we advise you go up a size i.e. if you normally order a 26” order a 28”]. Priced at £15 each.

Please contact us via our Facebook page or text Tracy on 07840 771583 to place an order.

Help us find a forever home for special girl Joy

Joy survived hell. Let’s show her how good life can be.  We rescued Joy from terrible circumstances. She came to the rescue with Hansel who was also starved, but thankfully he recovered too and is now adored in his new home. The vet wasn’t confident that Joy would make it…….

…..but with a lot of care and regular small meals she did and what a beauty she is!

Joy is in a foster home at the minute but she needs her forever home. She is better as an only dog but may be able to live with another in the right circumstances. Joy isn’t cat or small furry friendly. She’s only young so can get quite excitable at times, therefore she’d be better with older children. An active family would be great for Joy.

She’s been through such a lot in her short life. So let’s push to find her that forever home where she’ll know nothing but complete love and devotion.

Nursing home fete raises much need funds for GRACE dogs

A huge thank you to Debbie Nellist and Westmoor View Nursing Home for inviting us to their summer fete.

Our GRACE stall and tombola raised 0ver £130.

It was a lovely trip out for new boys Frankie and Blake too!

Frankie even ‘helped’ to set up the stall.

A sad farewell to Warren

We had some very sad news. Unfortunately one of our extra special G.R.A.C.E boys Warren passed away recently.

Warren had many admirers over the years and our condolences go to Sylvia and Steve who gave him so much love and a wonderful home.

Here’s a photo of Warren wallowing in the pond!

The Great Global Greyhound Walk

Dozens of hounds and humans took a stroll round Stewart Park, Middlesbrough recently as part of the ‘Great Greyhound Global Walk’.

Almost 6,500 sighthounds from across the globe took part in organised walks – all on the same day – to show the world what special pets they make.

The Great Global Greyhound Walk is an international dog walking event to raise the profile of rescued and retired (ex-racing) greyhounds. Started as a seed of an idea in 2010, the walk takes place annually on the 3rd Sunday of June.

Thank you for being part of such a ‘greyt’ event!

P.S. There are lots more pics from the day on the G.R.A.C.E Facebook page (www.facebook.com/RescueAGreyhound)

Thank you to Wags & Whiskers

Huge thanks go to Wags & Whiskers Canine Café and Pet Boutique in Stockton – and especially owner Carl and Kayleigh – who kindly organised a ‘Sighthound Gathering’ on behalf of G.R.A.C.E recently.

The event took place on Sunday 13th May.

It started with a riverside stroll, followed by a fundraising event for G.R.A.C.E which raised over £130.

It was a chance to chat with other sighthound owners over coffee & cake, while the dogs got to know each other and enjoy the cafe’s canine menu.

As well as a fundraising stall, there was a raffle and goody bags for the pooches.  A big thank you to Lauren too, who took some fabulous photos!

Thank you Nikki

A little while back, local photographer Nikki Paxton (www.nikkipaxton.com) got in touch to offer to take some pics of the G.R.A.C.E hounds.

We were blown away by her kind offer and had no idea she was so talented. The results are absolutely stunning.

We  also think some of our dogs secretly enjoyed being models for the day – shhhh, just don’t tell Naomi Campbell!

Thank you so much Nikki.
