Check out our GRACE fundraising page

Did you know that we have a GRACE fundraising page?

If you have Facebook, as well as our regular page for Greyhound Rescue and Co-ordinated Emergencies (@RescueAGreyhound), we also have a separate fundraising page. Just type ‘GRACE Fundraising Page’ into the Facebook search box and check out lots of lovely goodies for sale.

There are regular auctions too – the next auction runs from 18/02/22 to 06/03/22. All proceeds go to GRACE to help the dogs in our care.

The fundraising page is primarily run by our fantastic volunteer Doreen, who is ably assisted by her GRACE boy Max – even though he is sometimes caught napping on the job!

Just a normal day at GRACE HQ!

Paws up who loves being a nosey neighbour!

A big thank you to our wonderful GRACE founder Tracy and her partner Gary, who work tirelessly (on a voluntary basis) to rescue hounds in need and keep GRACE running smoothly, as well as managing their busy jobs. Their house is always full of hounds looking for forever homes – and there is never a dull moment!

Run free sweet Ellen

Many of you will know that our Ellen has been unwell. She went into surgery before Christmas, but wasn’t healing after her surgery to remove a haematoma.

The vets struggled to manage her blood loss. After many tests and biopsy of the haematoma our vets diagnosed a rare haemiophragic carcinoma – a cancer of her blood, but connected to the wound.

Ellen was stabilised and spent the next 6 weeks enjoying her life with Charlotte and Ashley. However, this week Ellen became unable to walk and the decision was made to help her over the rainbow bridge.

A huge thank you to Charlotte and Ashley for fostering Ellen. Run free sweet girl. Ellen 02.07.11 – 09.02.22

Goodnight sweet Apache

Emma contacted us about their lovely boy Apache, who they adopted through GRACE three years ago. Sadly he was helped over rainbow bridge on his final journey just before Christmas.

His Mum says he was a fantastic, gentle and loving boy and will be hugely missed by the whole family, including Rolo and Alfie the cat. Sleep tight sweet boy. You will always have a place in all of our hearts.

Happy New Year and thank you!

Our amazing fundraiser Doreen and her GRACE boy Max, would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and say a big thank you to everyone for your support in 2021. Together we have raised a massive £16,896.85 this year from our auctions, number draws, sales on fundraising page and the marketplace, bonus ball and our 100 club.

As GRACE is run entirely by volunteers, every single penny raised helps the dogs in our care. Thank you all and hopefully we will do as well in 2022!

Thank you to all of our fundraisers and supporters

Once again we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our fundraisers and supporters. As GRACE is run entirely by volunteers, your help goes directly to supporting the dogs in our care.

Beauty

Sorry we can’t name every individual, but this week special thanks goes to Tracy, Gary, Ann, Mike, Frank, Lynn and Beauty (pictured above) who made £185.63 from a GRACE fundraising stall and tombola at Guisborough Market.

Plus a mega shout out to Doreen – assisted by Max (pictured below) – who raised an amazing £281.74 for GRACE this week. This is broken down as follows: £50 from a greyhound figure donated by Jodie Green; £48 in donations; £10.47 from a book donated by Christine Page; £10 from a brooch draw; £35.27 from sales; £99 from the 100 club and £29 from our weekly bonus ball.

Max

Thank you everyone from the GRACE hounds!

Foster home needed for beautiful Poppy

We urgently need a foster home for beautiful Poppy.

Poor Poppy has been used as a ‘puppy making machine.’ She is still emaciated and has a skin condition, which is being treated (NB: not contagious). Poppy we believe is approximately 5 years old. She has recently had a litter of pups. Poppy is looking for an experienced foster home who have sighthound knowledge. Poppy also needs a quiet home, preferably as an only dog or with one other dog.

Poppy has no idea what the outside world is all about. She is very strong on the lead and has a high prey drive. A secure garden with fences of 6′ minimum are required please. As a GRACE foster dog, all food, veterinary costs and full support are provided.

Poppy will blossom in the right home, she just needs the time and care to flourish. Can you be the one who brings the best out of this gorgeous girl?

Phillip goes the extra mile for GRACE!

A huge thank you to our amazing GRACE supporter Phillip Thompson, who ran the London marathon (26.2 miles) recently in aid of Greyhound Rescue and Co-ordinated Emergencies!

Phillip’s family has two rescue greyhounds and understands the important work that GRACE and other rescue charities do.

Thank you to everyone who has already sponsored Phillip in this amazing quest. You can still donate by following the link below to Phillip’s ‘Go Fund Me’ page:

Doing our bit for the Great Global Greyhound Walk!

A huge thank you to all the gorgeous hounds and humans who joined us for the Great Global Greyhound Walk (GGGW) at Preston Park on 19 September.

We were delighted to welcome 43 greyhounds, 6 foster hounds, 21 other sighthounds and 3 other breeds: a grand total of 73 dogs!

P.S. There are lots more photos from the event on our Facebook page.
