Thank you to all of our amazing supporters and volunteers

Thank you to everyone for your support last week. Together we raised £216.30 to send over to G.R.A.C.E.

This included:

£98 from our weekly 100 club. Our members are dwindling, so if anyone would like to join, there are numbers still available – please contact Doreen via our Facebook page, or send a message via our website.

£17.60 from the draw for 3 GRACE items.

£8.50 from sales

£64.20 from our stall at Redcar – thank you Ali and Julie for helping with this.

£28 from our weekly bonus ball.

Thank you to all our lovely supporters and volunteers!

Sad goodbyes

Sadly we had some tragic news regarding two GRACE hounds, Lucia and Suzie.

Lucia (who is Nadia’s grandma) sadly passed away. We then got the devastating news from Jersey that Suzie had passed away aged 5 years from an extremely rare auto immune disease. Even with considerable veterinary care there was nothing the vets could do.

Our thoughts go out to Francesca (Lucia’s mum) and Catherine (Suzie’s mum).

Monthly meet and greet

Thank you to everyone who supported our ‘meet and greet’ event at Locke Park, Redcar yesterday.

We had lots of interest in our hounds, with some reserved. We also made £69.97 in donations too. Thanks again from the volunteers and hounds of G.R.A.C.E.

NB: Our meet and greet events take place at Locke Park, Redcar on the first Saturday of every month, weather permitting – please check our Facebook page for updates

Appeal for tombola prizes please

As G.R.A.C.E is run entirely by volunteers, every single penny we raise goes to help the hounds in our care. With the need to cover veterinary bills, food, bedding and everything needed for our lovely hounds, our regular fundraising activities are essential to keep G.R.A.C.E running and help as many hounds as possible.

One of our popular fundraising activities is to hold a tombola at some of the events we attend. However, we are currently running short of tombola prizes. We would therefore like to appeal to you for help. If you have any unwanted gifts, such as unused candles, gift sets, unopened toiletries or bottles (anything from bubble bath to juice), we would welcome them for our fundraising activities.

Please feel free to bring them to one of our events, or our monthly meet and greet at Locke Park in Redcar on the first Saturday of every month – see our events page for details. Alternatively, if you are local, please get in touch and we will arrange for one of our lovely volunteers to collect them from you. Thank you!

Event success

Thank you to everyone who supported us recently at the ‘Friends of Chaloner Street Market’ in Guisborough.

We were delighted to be invited to this great event and made a total of £249.71. A big thank you to Car Park Kiosk in Guisborough too, where we made £19.91 from our collecting tin.

Urgent plea for foster carers for hounds

We always need foster carers to help look after and rehabilitate our hounds.

This involves taking a hound into your home and providing love, affection, walks and fun, rolled in with a bit of socialising and training.

The cost of food, bedding, vet bills etc. are all covered by GRACE. If you can offer a temporary home to a greyhound, you will be rewarded by seeing these beautiful dogs gain in confidence, learn new things and give you love in return for your time.

The rewards are many. A sense of humour is needed, along with common sense and a love of dogs. Apart from that, we will guide you through caring for a hound and will always be at the end of the phone to support you.

Please share and help spread the word, or contact us if you think you can help. Thank you. P.S. A home check will be required for all potential foster carers

Can you offer Orla a forever home?

Can you offer Orla a forever home? Orla is a 2 year old lurcher (probably whippet x staffi) who had a terrible start to her life.

Orla was confined to a crate in a kitchen and received no socialising at all. She had one walk in a year. Due to this, Orla can become worried around other dogs and can react, especially on the lead.

Orla is looking for a home where someone is around a lot of the time, as she is very clever and can get bored. Orla would love a job, so agility could be possible or flyball.

As Orla is only a pup, she really deserves a chance at a happy life. Orla is currently being cared for by Brysons Animal Shelter, but is struggling in kennels as she is craving love. The wonderful staff and volunteers at Brysons do everything they can, but Orla needs a forever home and a sofa.

If you feel you can offer Orla her forever home, please contact Brysons Animal Shelter or ourselves for further information. Please share if you can’t help. Thank you.

Goodnight sweet Angel

We had some tragic news this week regarding a lovely G.R.A.C.E girl who has been living in her home for a number of years.

Angel was diagnosed with a mass in her liver after a sudden deterioration in her health. Her owner Joy had to take the sad decision to let her go peacefully. Goodnight sweet Angel.
