Thank you to St Hilda’s Church for hosting our G.R.A.C.E Christmas Pawty and to everyone who made it happen, plus all the hounds and humans who came along.

An extra big thank you goes to Ali, Julie and friends too who worked so hard to make this event a ‘greyt’ success!

Thank you to Jollyes

A big thank you to ‘Jollyes – the Pet People’ on Portrack Lane, Stockton for allowing a collecting tin in their store. We made £35.86 .

Rosie loses her fight for life

Sadly after a long hard fight, Rosie passed away this week. She enjoyed the months she was with us along with her brother Johnny.

A huge thank you to Harriet who cared for Rosie and Johnny and provided the best care. We didn’t get to the reason behind Rosie’s anaemia, but we know she wasn’t in pain at the end.

Johnny is managing without Rosie as has the company of two other hounds from GRACE and continues to be cared for by Harriet.

Thank you to our G.R.A.C.E volunteers and supporters

As G.R.A.C.E is run entirely by volunteers – plus every single penny we raise goes towards hounds welfare – we rely on kind and compassionate people who give their time freely and support our cause.

This weekend we had a stall in Newton Aycliffe town centre, as part of a ‘Petting Zoo’ event organised by Acorn Community Association. Events such as this are so important to raise funds and awareness of G.R.A.C.E, so thank you to all involved.

As well as giving people the opportunity to find out more about G.R.A.C.E and meet some of our gorgeous hounds, we raised over £120.

Fun dog show is a success

Thanks to everyone who attended our fun dog show on Sunday. We raised £700, which will be used for Johnny and Rosie’s vet bills.

Thanks to Ali, Julie and Doreen for organising the show. Plus a special thanks to Pat for judging – aided by our fab steward Mel – and donating cups, rosettes and prizes.

Thank you to Sandra for the teddy tombola, Ann and Tracy for sorting the catering, Gary for organising the GRACE dog stall and John for setting up the hall on the Saturday and helping clear it away on the Sunday.

Last but not least, thank you to all the lovely stallholders, our helpful hounds Frank and Moose, plus all of the dogs and their owners who made the day special.

P.S. There are more photos from the show on our Facebook page.

Please can you help?

Please can you help with our vets bill for Rosie and Johnny?

We took Rosie and Johnny, a bonded pair, in under the “emergencies” umbrella of our work. They are not G.R.A.C.E dogs, but their owner had gone into hospital and at 11 years old their future was not looking hopeful. We couldn’t have that.

Johnny has had all but 4 of his teeth removed and is making a good recovery. Rosie was rushed to the vets, with nosebleeds and vomiting, where she received emergency treatment. She was then admitted to Moorview referrals where she has had a CT Scan and Bone Marrow Aspiration and is undergoing further tests.

Rosie and Johnny are currently being well looked after in foster by Harriet (thank you Harriet!) and doing OK.

The vets bill currently stands at around £7,000 for these 2 golden oldies so if you can donate just a £1 it honestly will all add up, we know times are hard but these two deserve the very best twilight years as do all dogs. You can donate via PayPal (please tick friends and family so we don’t lose any of your donation in fees) greyhoundrescue@outlook.com or by Bank Transfer:

If you put Rosie and Johnny as the reference we will be able to keep you informed with how they are doing. A big G.R.A.C.E thank you for reading this.

Pinchinthorpe Hall event is a success

Thank you to everyone who supported our stall at Pinchinthorpe Hall Summer Craft Fair.

Frank looks after new girls Emily and Blankit

An extra big thank you to Fiona from Jumping Frog Crafts for our table and to G.R.A.C.E volunteers Mel, Julie, Mike, Ann and Frank. Together we made £169.14 for G.R.A.C.E.

Please welcome Johnny and Rosie

Please welcome two new hounds to our GRACE family. Johnny (blue boy) and Rosie (black girl) have come to us under sad circumstances, as their adopter has been taken into hospital.

Johnny
Rosie

This lovely pair have lived together for many years, so we are trying to rehome them together where possible. Rosie is 10 years old and Johnny is almost 11 years old. They will need some urgent dental care prior to being rehomed. As they are older, they will be covered by our ‘golden oldies’ agreement, where we will cover age-related veterinary costs. If you can open your heart to a beautiful pair of hounds, please contact the page or email greyhoundrescue@outlook.com with your details and we can arrange a home check.
