Thank you Greyhound Mommas!

Thank you ‘Greyhound Mommas’ who held a Craft Fair & Coffee Morning event and raised £241.12 for Greyhound Rescue & Co-ordinated Emergencies.  We are so, so grateful!

Greyhound Mommas are a ‘not for profit organisation’ which shares the same passion and love for greyhounds and work hard to raise funds for rescues and charities within the UK.

Congratulations on your award Tracy!

Not one for being in the limelight, but GRACE founder Tracy Cook has received an ‘inspirational woman’ award from BBC Radio Tees.

Listen to Tracy’s interview, when they surprised her at work, via BBC iplayer (first aired 08/03/19 @5pm).

Huge congratulations Tracy – thank you for all the love you give to the hounds.

And thank you Ann and Ted for nominating her!

Sadly Curtis and Billy-Bob head over the rainbow bridge

We’re always incredibly sad when former GRACE dogs head over the rainbow bridge. So it’s been a particularly hard few weeks for us, as we’ve had to say farewell to two of our gorgeous boys – black beauty Curtis and gorgeous golden oldie Billy-Bob.

Curtis was adopted from GRACE by Bill, Emma and Albert several years ago. Such a gentle giant, Curtis went everywhere with his family who are missing him so much. He has left a huge greyhound-shaped hole in their hearts.

Billy-Bob was loved by all of us and left the care of GRACE 7 months ago for a retirement home via Jersey Rescue Dogs. A huge thanks go to Angela and her family for making Billy Bob’s last month’s very special. Also thanks to Alison at Jersey Rescue Dogs and Gail and Chris for providing his stylish flight to Jersey last year.

Urgent foster or forever homes needed

We urgently need new foster homes, or permanent homes. This especially applies to Finn and Honey, who due to a change in circumstances can no longer stay with their current foster family.

Finn is a handsome 3 year old brindle boy, who is a very confident young man and settled really well into home life with his first foster family. Finn is better with female dogs and has been in foster with Honey. He isn’t cat friendly. He enjoys his walks, loves people and is great with children. He loves playing.

Honey is a confident and cheeky four year old fawn girl. She adapted really well to home life with her first foster family.

With the right owner and perhaps a male doggy companion (she prefers the boys), Honey would blossom into a loyal and affectionate pet. She is great with children and her cheekiness would make her a constant source of amusement.

Honey isn’t cat friendly.

As well as Finn and Honey, there are lots more dogs needing foster or forever homes too – find out who needs your help in the ‘looking for homes’ section of our website.

Much loved Gypsy heads over the rainbow bridge

We’ve had some devastating news today. Gypsy, a beautiful little lurcher girl, who was adopted by Olivia and Alison, has sadly passed away.

Gypsy was an oldie when they gave her a home and she’s been so adored by them both as you can tell from these beautiful photos.  To say that Alison and Olivia are heartbroken is an understatement.

Some of you might remember seeing Gypsy at our fundraising event and dog show in December, when she was delighted to meet Santa Paws.

Gypsy didn’t have a bad bone in her body and was so gentle and loving. She’s left a massive hole in their hearts.

Loved until the very end and beyond. This is what it truly means to love a dog.

Sad news about Fudge

We have some sad news about former GRACE dog Fudge, who has left for his journey over the rainbow bridge.

Fudge had developed osteosarcoma. We would like to send all our love to Paul, Catherine and Fudge’s furry family who we know will really miss this beautiful and sweet natured boy.

A sad goodbye to Blake

We were very sad to hear that Lil, Joe and Frankie had to say goodbye to our wonderful GRACE boy Blake recently.
He was such a special and gentle boy. He will be forever in our hearts. Safe journey over the rainbow bridge Blake.

Thank you to everyone who came to volunteer at, or support, our stall and tombola at Peterlee Show this weekend. Nadia even scooped a prize in the fun dog show!
