Organisers of the Great Global Greyhound Walk (GGGW) 2020 have now opened their online shop which has goodies for hounds and humans. What’s more, all profits from merchandise – including bandanas, collars, bags, logos, wristbands, keyrings and the GGGW calendar* – will be split between rescue organisations who organised a walk in 2019, or have registered one for 2020. And that includes GRACE!
To find out more, or to order merchandise, visit the GGGW website (www.greatglobalgreyhoundwalk.co.uk) or Facebook page (G G Greyhound Walk).
*Please note: the order deadline for calendars is 28 May 2020 and delivery will be in June 2020 (COVID-19 allowing). Due to the Coronavirus situation, the date for the walk has been provisionally moved to Sunday 4 October 2020 (this is a change from 11 October as previously stated).
A big thank you to our friends Emily and Janet at Maddi’s Craft Box, who enjoy crafting and support local charities. They recently made this brilliant greyhound hanger to raise funds for GRACE!
Thank you to Debbie and Sean, who not only dropped off lots of lovely items to help us raise funds, but also brought three sacks of dog food for the kennel dogs who are waiting to come into GRACE or other rescues. Such an incredibly kind and thoughtful thing to do.
Pearl has been saving her pocket money and asked her dad Phil to send us this message: “I have just sent £30 through bank transfer to help towards looking after the greyhounds during this particularly difficult period. From Phil, Jac and Pearl.”
You might remember Pearl’s Dad Phil from an earlier news post. Phil will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for GRACE once the event has been re-scheduled. Thank you Phil, Jac and Pearl.
Thank you to all the kind-hearted people who have made donations to GRACE, or support us in other ways. As a small, independent non-registered charitable rescue – run entirely by volunteers – we rely on the kindness and compassion of dog lovers for help. Your support means so much, especially during the difficult Coronavirus situation when we can’t get out and about to generate funds and raise awareness in person.
A special thank you to Eric the collie who has been poorly, but donated £10 to GRACE towards food. Get well soon Eric and thanks so much! If you would like to donate, or support GRACE in some other way, please visit the ‘How to help’ section of our website to find out more.
We can’t get out to fundraise at the moment, so things are difficult. Two of our fantastic volunteers, Doreen and Jackie, have been making and selling items of jewellery and gifts, including these lovely pins, bangles and keyrings, to raise much needed funds. Examples are pictured below and are all priced at £5 including p&p. Please see our Facebook page for the full range, including availability: www.facebook.com/RescueAGreyhound
Thank you Doreen and Jackie!
Talented North East photographer Nikki Paxton has kindly given her fee from 10 of her ‘Dog Royal Portraits’ to GRACE, bring the total donation to £250!
Although this GRACE-related fundraising offer has now finished , you can still book a ‘pawsome’ portrait of your pet, by getting in touch with Nikki as follows:

Our lovely, thoughtful, hound-loving friend and exceptionally talented artist Jo Brodie, who designed our GRACE logo, has roped in her friends and family to create some original artwork with the theme of lockdown covid-19. Proceeds will go to GRACE.
Jo’s work is available on Etsy under ‘jobrodieart’ [NB: on the left hand side of Jo’s Etsy page, there is a drop down column – chose covid-19 to have a look at the beautiful work.]
A huge thank you to Jean Armstrong of ‘Blackrose Lexi Design Greetings Cards.’ As well as being mega talented, Jean is a supporter of GRACE and other greyhound rescue charities. Jean regularly raises funds through the sale of her beautiful greetings cards which support dozens of greyhounds here in the UK as well as overseas.
Thank you to everyone who donated funds or contributed food to the natonal ‘food4life’ campaign, organised by ‘Caged Nationwide’. Although not a GRACE campaign, one of our fantastic volunteers Doreen put out a plea for donations to help buy food for greyhounds in racing kennels.
With the help of our GRACE supporters, Doreen raised enough funds to buy 32 bags of food, which were distributed by GRACE founder Tracy to racing kennels around the North East.
In addition, a special mention goes to ‘Butternut Box’ for their wonderful donation of dog food, which Tracy transported back to the North East for greyhounds in kennels, plus Paul from ‘Denes’ who also donated a pallet of food.
